Reality TV Show
I think a good example of a reality tv show at FMU would be where there would be a competition to see who could eat the healthiest. As most college students know, it is very easy to grab something quick out the snack machine instead of grabbing an apple for you leave to go to class. There would be several students who would be evaluated and they would be secretly watched to see what kind of foods or snacks they ate. The person who ate the healthiest would be rewarded a limited supply of giftcards to Subway.

Recycling
I really don't support that much, but one thing I do support is recycling. I believe recycling is important because it saves money and helps the environment. If people throw out plastic it could get back to bodies of water and kill fish and other animals that live there. If we throw it away in a certain container then they are disposed of in the proper places. Also, recycling is a good way to resuse things which saves us money. If you go to Wal Mart, the plastic bags we get can be used for trashcan liners instead of buying trash bags; there are many more examples on recycling...get involved.

American Idol
American Idol is a reality TV show that has been going on for about a decade. Thousands and thousands of Americans audition to be on the show, but only 24 make it through to the actual round. The contestants sing and perform infront of a live audience and the show's judges. They are critiqued by the judges then America votes for who they want to keep on the show. The person with the lowest amount of votes has to go home. Even though there is only one official "winner" many of the contestants still "win" because they go on to make record deals, have concerts, ect.. For example, Chris Daughtry didn't make it to the end but he has become very successful in his music career. It's not just about who gets the title of "American Idol," but it is also about the ones who give it all they got and make something out of themselves.

Somewhere Over the Rainbow
Thesis: Somewhere Over the Rainbow became a popular song because of the hit movie, "The Wizard of Oz" where the song was originally sung.

Songs
Somewhere Over the Rainbow
-originally a song made for the movie, "The Wizard of Oz."
-over the years it has been sung by many different artists.
-This song is about getting out of a town where you've been your whole life and into somewhere beyond one's imagination.
Life in a Northern Town
-originally sung by Dream Academy
-later it was sung by Sugarland, Little Big Town, and Jake Owen
-This song has a hidden meaning to it. Dream Academy wrote it in memory of Nick Drake, a songwriter who died in 1974 of possible suicide. Nick Drake never 'waved goodbye', and he never knew how successful he'd be some 30 years later, but he influenced a lot of musicians.
Life is a Highway
-originally sung by Tom Cochren
-later Rascal Flatts sang it and it was made famous for the soundtrack from the movie, "Cars."
-This song is about life in general and how it has its twists and turns, and its ups and downs. Life is a long journey, we never know what will happen next, just like a highway goes on and on and we never know what will be around the next corner.

Media
The technology of phones has largely increased within the last decade. Back then cell phones were only used to make phone calls; in this day and time, cell phones are used in many other ways. For example, now cell phones are used for texting, internet, a GPS device, and many other technological advanced things. This has a huge impact on me because I text often. Texting is just a quicker way to get in contact with people and is a way where you can talk to more than one person at a time. This has advantages and disadvantages. The negative side is it can sometimes be hard to have a conversation face to face with people because we get so used to just texting it all. A positive side is that you can talk to more people at once and it can be quicker to get int ouch with someone.
This affects me on a proffesional level because if I am in a meeting and someone needs to get in contact with me I may not be able to call them right away. If this is the case, I can just send them a quick text letting them know what is going on. I can also text people reminding them of certaing things they have to get done or give them a specific time for something. It is much more convenient than calling everyone all the time. Quicker and faster makes my life go smoother so texting is a very good item for me.
